Hi guys!! New to the total python forum and currently have corn snakes but would love to get a royal just because I think these would be a great snake to keep, there gorgeous and tbh would complete the family!
I've read alot about there care and tried to knowledge myself on there care and life span. Am completely capable and aware of what they need and there needs! But thought I would right on here and ask your opinion, is royals alot more harder than corns? Am I doing the right thing? Lol,
Cheers guys!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I've really never found royals harder to care for than corns - just different. Some people find the winter fasting, which varies from royal to royal, hard to live with; others prefer a livelier snake, like a boa or corn or hognose (royals spend a lot of time asleep and invisible.) Me, I love royals, but it really is down to personal taste.

Like BATS said above they are a very nocturnal creature and therefore seldom seen during the day but I love them despite their feeding peculiarities, I have to say that you would see more of a corn snake and they are easier to feed but the choice is yours so long as you realise that royals are a bit perfidious :)

I have some adult female corns and this spring they went crazy - off their food for weeks, just like royals in THEIR breeding season. Trouble is, the corns also went STIR-crazy, trying like mad to escape, wearing their noses against the viv doors and generally being totally inconsolable. I longed to put them all on the CORNtraceptive pill and turn them loose with a male horny corn ...
