You may be about to have a moult. They don't normally web much unless they are about to moult and they lay a silk bed. Though a little bit of info for you, they can also spin web out of their feet. I wouldn't worry too much about the substrate, they don't burrow (or supposedly they don't) but do need a hide of some sort, a coconut hide or something like that, even a plant pot. As for handling, get to know it a bit better first, see how it reacts to your presence over a few weeks, warning signs for the chilean isn't really the threat pose (which is obvious) they turn away from you and lift their bottom up, taking aim, they will then either fire poo at you or kick hairs. Once you recognise the calm behaviour place your hand flat to the bottom and shepherd it with a paintbrush over to your hand, dont lift it just have it walk over your hand a few times, if you are feeling brave, lift your hand a bit.
Just seen the video link, its definitely laying that bed of silk to eat. Interesting and very cool.
Just take it slowly, no point rushing yourself. I'm not very brave, I've handled my Chilean once but she is a little bit smaller than your big lass.
The other ones I haven't though. The OBT will never be handled, not a chance am I going through over a week worth of cramps and pain at least if a chilean bites its a bit sore but its no worse than a bee sting.
cheers for the info lotabob. will sort out a hide tomorrow. im going to move her into RUB ive got spare soon as its a little bigger an the faun shes is is a bit manky plus shes not been cleaned out for a while. how often do they need a full clean? wont be rushing into holding her and agree with you theres no way i would hold a OBT, have read their also very fast

They dont need cleaning all that often, they will actually pick up any muck and pile it up all you have to do is scoop out the pile. Every so often they will blast poop up one of the sides, that will need cleaning but if its on the mud they will normally ball it up and keep their own area clean so as long as it is dry and not covered in muck then it should be OK to leave. moving will be fun, if you have any xmas cards left over they might come in handy as a scoop.
thats handy if they tidy up themselves. good idea with the cards, was thinking gloves if i feel brave or tilting the faun up and ushering her into the new RUB. cant remember if i asked you before but what do you use for substrate?

I use Monkfield coco fibre. I got a load of it when it was on offer in P@H. It needs to be wet to make it expand but need to be almost completely dried out before using it for a Chilean. It holds burrows well when its compressed into tubs.
Gloves might be a bit tricky with dexterity and tilting the faun might cause a substrate avalanche and they are delecate things for all their size.
ive not handled her yet but have no problem putting my hand in to change the water. shes taken 2 locusts. as im a bit skint shes still in the faun she came in when i get paid i will sort out the new home an move her into it

The fact she is feeding is a good sign, Chileans are notoriously fussy feeders (even more than Royals). There is no rush to rehome her either I'm sure she is happy where she is.
