Hi everyone get my first new snake fri!! av got 20 tarantulas but always fancied a snake not any snake though ad to be a royal!!  |
0.1.0 normal royal (Cleo) 1.0.0 het lavenda royal (hector) Staffie (Boo) And 67 Tarantula's :) |

Welcome to the forum buddy :) you wont be disappointed with royals, any questions about them just ask away. People on the forum have been amazing and helped me get a real insight into the snakes :D |

welcome to the forum. i would not say im a spider lover but find them interesting, have a chilean rose that scares me a bit |

hi everyone needing some advise we have 5 snakes but couple weeks ago we got a royal python 2 yrs old from pet shop but previous owner didnt handle him much now we have a really grumpy mr monty that is snappy anyone got any advice

Hi, congrats on getting him; it could well be that he's still settling in. I'd personally give him some space for the time being; don't attempt to handle unless it's necessary until after 3 consecutive feeds, and make sure he's got plenty of cover and dimness and peace. If he wants to disappear, let him; he'll appreciate the slow acclimatisation to his new home. Disturb him as little as possible apart from cleaning/water changing. He may calm down quite a bit once he's got used to his new surroundings.
I wouldn't worry too much about the lack of handling by the previous owner; I don't always handle my royals regularly but they're not grumpy. In fact at this time of year, in the mating/fasting season, they seem to hide away and prefer not to be disturbed.
