I think I handle my two more often than generally recommended..every day for a couple of hrs apart from the 36hr feeding window. Slinky usually cuddles up beside Katana's toes and Fea leans his head on a finger, arm or anything available lol.

They both start with a mooch around and then both get comfy for a snooze.

Fea is out on hubby, having a mooch right now They are lovely tempered snakes, never bitten, never struck Fea hissed when blue but once only.

I won't be adding to my pair, as I couldn't share my affection..I admit i'm totally smitten by my babies :)

So how often do you take your snakes out for a cuddle?

Not as much as I could :(

I normally handle them all for about 10 minutes a week when cleaning them out and about 60 seconds every day just to check them over while I change water bowls.

Hmm so it looks like I baby mine too much.. lol but they are quite happy..both eating well and Fea likes to roost between fingers.

That's why I wouldn't get more snakes, I don't want to breed them..just to pet them :)

Hey Kelf :)

I have watched some of your vids, and nobody could fault how you treat your snakes.

Fea is still out..first he went nosing around, but now he has settled for a nap lol here's a pic I snapped moments ago:

I handle mine for 30mins - 1hour every day except for thursday nights because he gets fed on wednesdays. He spends most of that time just wandering round my room while I just watch. its usually quite amusing.

You sound like me lol quite happy spoiling them. I havn't let these two roam loose yet, as they are small and could easily get in places I couldn't get them out of ..

I honestly dont think there is a recommended handling time and if they are comfortable been out and around you and they don't get cold then there is no reason to shorten the time they are out. I try to handle my lot a couple of times a week but Duke is more like once a week but every now and again I will get one out and just sit watching TV with them on me. I dont handle them on feeding day and then for two days after a feed so it only leave 4 days, 3 snakes. I've never really tested their maximum tolerances though.

I hope you allow for the 48 hours after a meal so they can digest.

mine each get handled for about a minute a week, just to check over and feed/clean.

I dont see any problems in handling so long as there are no signs of stress from the snake ;)

Gmac I'm disappointed lol I thought with the title of this thread at least you might come out with a comment of comedy relief especially in response to kelfs post, I know we are a serious forum but it's nice to have a bit of comedy relief from time to time lol...

I would handle mine more often if I could although I manage a couple of times a week for short periods at the moment.

My elderly mother lives with me and if she knew Oscar was in the house, she'd have a heart attack. I've managed to keep him hidden since last July, (even though he's in the kitchen when I can see him all the time) she's not very observant, pmsl and just pootles through without looking at anything.

When she's gone, he'll be out much more. He seems to like it.

1.0.0 CB11 Normal Royal, Oscar.
1.0.0 German Shepherd, Bailey.

Still lots to learn.

Rep! I'm surprised at you tsk tsk

Do pray explain to one such as myself, the 'comic relief' of the title I set.

You do realise I assume that in posting that comment it isn't Kelf opening himself for quips..oh no..it's you!! LOL

You are fortunate that its gone 2am and i'm not as sharp witted as usual, but be warned come morning.
