Posted - 20/09/2012 : 20:11:29 I've got my rack up and running now with 3 x 35"x6" heat strips and 1 habistat pp stat have used one rub just for the stat probe and also put a thermometer on it which is reading 32.5 degrees but my other rubs are reading higher at 33 and over the only difference with the others is they have a hide in over the thermometer probe is this normal to have different temps? Also wish id gone for the 11" wide strips as the heated part of the heat strip is not 6" as i thought would be the case and the plastic bit where the cable is takes up part of that too for my middle rub :-( |

Posted - 03/10/2012 : 18:31:54 Mine seem to be the other way around warmer rubs on shelf with probe then the two shelves above are cooler the one directly above is between 1 and 2 degrees cooler and the top one which has no rubs on yet or heat reflective stuff is reading about 29 degrees directly checking mat and it seems the mats don't heat evenly when checked with ir temp gun in different spots |

Posted - 03/10/2012 : 17:39:19 you will find that in a rack system that the top rubs will be slightly warmer than the lower rubs.
my racks are 10 high, and the stat probe is in the middlish and the top is a degree hotter than the bottom. unless you have several stats for each level, you willnot get around it, as heat rises.
and a couple of degrees isnt an issue, the lower rubs at 87/88, and the top rubs 89/90, no problems with that. |

Posted - 21/09/2012 : 19:16:04 Trouble is mine is more than 2 degrees difference i know its not the thermometer as I've swapped tubs around and the read the same as the tub that was there originally and I've checked the mats now with my ir gun and it seems as though they aren't heating evenly is this normal? The temps so far are 12l ones first the one with stat probe is 32.5c then there's one at 31.8c and the other at 33.4c and the two without stat probe are on same shelf then i have a 50l one reading 30.5c on another shelf |

Posted - 21/09/2012 : 18:06:37 dont need 11" mate, all my racks are 6", more than enough, heat cable is only 10mm wide and with 2x passes thats anough for the racking systems.
and .5 of a degree is neither here or there mate, no worries with that.
in my humble opinion anyways... |

Posted - 21/09/2012 : 13:58:51 So in theory if i use my ir gun to check mats if they are between those temps my rubs Will be fine? Im using kitchen roll instead of aspen |

Posted - 20/09/2012 : 20:19:48 I'd recommend a ir temp gun for doing the temps I think you may fine all will be the same Give or take 0.5 degree
I only use the ir temp gun Think there about £12-£15 on eBay Saves buying multi thermostats |

Posted - 20/09/2012 : 20:15:18 Thermometers generally won't match all mine say there could vary +/-1'c on the back |
