If the viv was packed out really well would a young royal feel comfortable or is it really a case of using a small RUB?

depends on how small it is

you could put it in a rub inside the viv

my royal went into a 3 foot viv when he was 7 months old..

Sherman was 1 year old when I got him and he went into a 3ft viv.

Pack it out with lots of hiding places and, another trick, suspend some Exo-terra vines across the ceiling of the viv with one of the 6ft lengths of fake ivy draped around it. Has the effect of lowering the ceiling height. Also have a rummage in the cork bark box at the rep store and look for the cork bark tubes. Sherman can get from one end of his viv to the other without being seen if the mood takes him .
