With all due respect, no one on here is a vet (that I know of). If you need to ask questions regarding the advise the vet gave you, you need to ask the vet. Seeking the advice from members on here could be directly counter intuitive to the instructions of the vet. |

Was it a specialist reptile vet, there are a lot of have a go vets out there, specialists are what you need. I would have thought they'd have advised you what they had done, and at the very least given antibiotics and pain relief.
Tamodine is your best bet for cleaning up wounds but hopefully the wound was cleaned by the vet and now all you need to do is keep the rub clean which in turn keeps the wound clean.
I personally think your vet hasn't given you enough information to properly look after a snake with that kind of injury and you doing stuff to it may be counter productive, get back onto the vet and get clear instructions on what he has done and what is now expected of you, also find out if he specialises in exotic animals, if not then you probably need to find one that does. |

Like I said get some Tamodine, that's what I had to use with Stitches. |

Hi firstly really sorry to hear about and see your snakes injuries, I'm no expert at all but that injury looks very much like a really bad shed i.e. he's shed and ripped the scales off as he's done it, when you cleaned his tub out did you happen to notice any shed skin in with the substrate? but on a happier note hope all is well and good luck with the healing process and with a little help from you I'm sure mother nature will do all the hard work....
