Hey guys, Spidey ( the spider morph ) is having yet a 3rd bad shed,
she gets the exact same temps / setup / humidity as Jebus yet he sheds
perfect every time, and she sheds really patchy and from the tail up.
Is there a reason for this? Would it be the spider morph trait to not be
as good a shedder as others? I dono jsut spitballing here :(

Some advice / info would be great

Thanks, Matt.

i would give her a warm bath for 10 minutes of so then gently peel/roll of the bits of stuck shed then stick her in a damp pillow case for 10 minutes if theres any bits left on her.
my royal derek had really bad sheds when i first got him so i put in a damp hide with a damp cloth ontop of the hot hide and was spraying the walls of the viv 3-4 times a day.
once his eyes had cleared up i would remove his hides and just leave the damp hide in there till he shed

good stuff, shes a pretty little thing.
ive found the pillow case does work sometimes if the snake acctually moves around.
i usually just bath them an peel off the shed and use some cotton buds if some of it is really stuck

My snakes always shed in one piece. I check them every day and when I see that their bellies become quite milky in colur I know they are going to get blue eyes in the next 2-3 days and that's the time when I put wet moss into their hides and start spraying rubs and snakes at least once a day. Moss must stay wet all the time for the next 7 days. After they shed I clen and disinfect their rubs. I don't know if it is a good way but I've been doing this for the last 20 months and they shed perfectly easy. However when I go on holiday and leave snakes without attention they never shed in one piece. One of mine is getting slightly milky now so I may post some pics in 7 days. This is only from my experience some people may have different ways of dealing with shedding.

Raising humidity as soon as you see the signs of shedding is the way forward. As soon as you see those eyes did cloudy you can raise the humidity in loads of different ways. I use face cloths over hides keep them damp until after they shed. You can use moss, humidity boxes, moving water bowls to the hot end and spraying the edges (not the floor). This should help with getting better sheds from them.

Bad sheds do happen though, If its just patches on the body there is no immediate requirement tremove it, the important bits to ensure are cleared of retained shed is the eyes and the tail. I find sticking them in a damp pillowcase for 30 minutes does the trick, just stick them in leave them to it and put them back in the vivarium, they will get the bits off themself, never pull at it or peel it yourself, you could damage the new skin underneath, you c let them slither through a towel to speed up the removal but never pull bits off. Due to the potential stress a bath may cause this would be a last resorfr getting stuck she'd off, they don't like been dunked into water, they should have water bowls in their vivariums that are big enough to submerge themselves in it so they will bathe themselves if they need to.
