this is a strange one and ive done some serching but can not find a difinitive anser

here we go......

i got sisco about 4 months ago,hes always been a picky feeder but other things are starting.
he last fed 4 weeks ago(multie marmite)ushaly has med weeners every 10 - 14 days.
he weighs around 485g,hes only put on 15g-20g since i got him.
i was trying to feed him every 7- 10 days but he kept refusing.
the previus owner could only get him to take chicks regularly.
he hasent poo`d in 4 months
i have been bathing him every few days and cant feel anyhard lumps.
i never got any records with him but its beleved hess about 14 months old.
i have anouther royal around 2 years old (again bought with no records)that is weighing in at 900g and very active at night just now so i beleve hes looking to mate and probebly away to fast however sisco is quite lathargic and spends most of hit time in his cold hide.
his temp in hot side is 32c on a stated heat mat in a 2ft x 2ft,i dnt have a temp gauge in cold side but would asume its around 22c.
when i get him out hes very inquisitive as he has always been but when he goes back in his viv he will hang about in the middel back of the viv then 99% of the time will retret to his cold hide.

so to conclude im woried about his lathargicness,no poo in 4 month and not feeding

so any ideas?

Right first of all can I ask if your enclosure is a viv or rub, if its a viv id advise changing to a ceramic bulb heater, if its a rub then a heat mat is fine, you need to test your cold end temps as 22 is a little on the cold side. I wouldn't worry about him taking a poo, if he is not eating much then he won't poo much

IMO you need to stop handling till he starts feeding again, other than to check his weight, and he certainly will not be needing that many baths, make sure his water bowl is big enough for him to fit in, he will know if he needs a soak

He's in a viv which he's been in since I got him, nothing has changed except the fact that we have now got a female.
We got her a few months ago.

I am building a rub rack which is nearly ready so I will be transferring them all to 33l rubs soon maby that will help.
He's on a mat just now but I do have a AHS heater handy, shud I set that up in the 2x2x2 viv?
I was bathing because I thort he may be constipated.
Was going to try a chick or gerble tonight as it's been 8 days since I last tried to feed.

To be honest I woudnt worry about him not feeding till he starts losing weight 10-15% is what I generally go off,

I can't really answe about the heater as I have never used one myself

I wouldnt worry about him not pooping, if he is not eating he has nothing to pop, muine usually only pop when they shed, they only shed when feeding often

A few points to clear up:

Bathing every few days = Stress! Not required.

Hasn't pooed in 4 months = Totally normal.

Never assume anything.

OK that's that out the way. I would be concerned that on a heat mat he was never using it, I'd also be surprised that using a heat mat you'd get an ambient of anything higher than 20oC without your house been roasting unless the heat mat is doing something it shouldn't be. So, where are the thermostat and thermometer probes? They should be fixed to the surface of the mat. And are you using digital thermometers, the ones with probes? All other dial thermometers are rubbish, you can get laser thermometers but the ones with probes are far easier to use and read quickly.

ok to clear a few things up
temp is actuly 32c hot spot on mat with stat
i am using digital thermometers
the stat probe and temp probe are next to each other attached to heat mat
just rechecked is records and he last fed on the 6/8/12 (multiemarmite)

i have today fitted the ahs heater aswell to bring up the ambient temp a wee bit
its feeding night tonight so will try him on a small weener,if he dosnt take the im sur the garbige bin the b/bee will have it.
