Hey guys, Spidey the spider has had yet another bad shed, she is kept
in the exact same conditions as all my other snakes and yet is the only
1 to have any problems sheding? Are some snakes just worse at shedding
than others? Would love to see her having a nice full shed :(

having just got my bee the cloudy phase I missed and didn't get a chance to up the humidity in time and now shes having a total ****ty shed to :(
only her head came off other day and now bits off belly she looks like a patch work lol !!!
now Ive popped a damp flannel on hot hide and she has a moist hide its loosening up on its own nicely total mess but at least it is coming off once most of its off IL bathe her.
but is a bummer !

| Could be worth getting her one of them moss hides and keeping it in her tank all the time so she can go in it whenever she wants, might help her shed bit better hopefully |

Could there be some skin damage there? I know that for instance a scar that is almost invisible the majority of the time can be a pain in the ass during shedding.
Just crank the humidity through the roof, it will only be for a short period of time during the shedding process and providing the vivarium or rub is clean and well ventilated then it should not cause any problems. Spray the walls, foliage and put damp face cloths over the hides, I'd avoid wetting the substrate too much but dont worry if it gets a bit wet in places.
I've noticed all my vivariums have dropped a ton of humidity since the central heating has been on and my House snake shed terribly a week ago, I never know when he is shedding its almost impossible to detect and he only managed to shed his head and chin skin was running around for a few hours wearing a hoody. I've just knocked him together a humidity hide out of a little sandwich tub, will pop a few pieces of damp kitchen roll in there and keep it clinically clean in there to prevent that area turning nasty and see if that helps next time around. I'm currently spraying the Boa viv twice daily, its huge and very well ventilated so loses humidity fast but she is blue today so needs to be done. |

| If there is no retained shed on the eyes then I wouldn't be overly concerned, Ideally you want the tail tip skin off too but its not so serious if its stuck just this once. Rather than bathing which is a stressful process just increase humidity, but a ice cream (or suitably sized) tub with a hole cut in the lid filled with damp moss in the vivaarium/rub and encourage the snake to hide in there. Another one to try and my personal favourite is get a pillowcase, wet it, squeeze out excess water and then stick the snake in it. Tie the top and leave for about 30 minutes back in the vivarium/rub, the humidity in there should help moisten the shed and also the close contact of the damp material helps too. |
