Me and the missus were talking the other night and the question about post shed handling came up. She heard that its best not to handle after a shed as the scales are 'healing'.
So, is there any truth in the above and if so, how long after a shed can you start to handle?

It's fine to handle post shed although it is usually best to leave 24 hours or so as they may be a little fatigued so any handling within 24 hours should be kept to a minimum. It really does depend on the temperament of your snake as they are all different, some are more feisty than others and some more laid back. It won't do them any harm but the feistier ones may object a little :)
My corn snake actually tried shedding her skin while I was holding her once.. having her pushing her head against my stomach really hard to try to catch the skin on something was quite funny.
Obviously I put her back in her viv and got to witness a shed for the first (and ONLY!) time. It was quite amazing to watch.. :)

I always handle mine after a shed as well, usually just to feed though. Well that's my corn anyway my royal has only had one shed with me which I had to assist him with which was a rather strange experience.
