So I already have my little corn snake hatchling, but the addiction has started! I am very interested in aqquiring a royal sometime in the future (hoping sooner rather than later, but I want to be prepared!) Might be a bit of a general question, but are there many differences in royal and corn care? I think there is a difference in humidity, am I right?

Thankyou to all who reply, Lily xxx

if your in the uk the rooms humidity will be fine maybe increase it a little when shedding. the big diffrence is a royal may go off there food easier than a corn. they are a much larger bodied snake so need to be fed rats ideally

I do live in the UK so thats not a problem and I sometimes have to aid my corn's shedding, so not much of a problem. Plus I have a huge stash of moss

I know it can be a habit of the royals to go off their food, but it doesn't cause too much of a problem I hope? They will eat again soon right, as long as temperatures are fine and they aren't ill etc.?

royals cam go months without eating and you will not be able to handle them no where near as much as the corn,i handle my royal once a week if that.

Keep in mind, though, that every individual snake is different; I handle my royal about 3 or 4 times a week and shes never missed a meal. Ever. She also sheds perfectly every time. Shes has never balled up, hissed or even recoiled from me either.

Hmm, well I love them, and if it's a true love I'll be able to overcome these problems. But I'll probably be asking a LOT of questions I will acquire one from a trusted breeder recommended by you guys and I'll go far if I have to.

I agree with Boze above they are all different my normal loves to be out and is very docile and rarely misses a feed my two morphs are a lot more hyper and I handle them as frequently but not for as long and they too have never missed a meal, get the temperature right and keep them in a quiet plaxce and they seem to thrive :)

My royal's off her food at the moment but is normally a good feeder. She's getting on for four though so I think she has other things on her mind. She's nice and docile but does seem to be quite shy so I don't handle her as much as Feather. It's nice to see her little face peeping out of her cave though.
