Hello Everyone , My name is Ash and im 21 years of age from Eastmidlands - Leicester.
Some of you may already know me from TCS & The Reptilian forum.
I am looking to buy a Normal Royal Prefer a hatchling and would like it to be a CB10 so if any one is going to be breeding them or selling them could you please drop me an email as i may be intrested.
My local Reptile shop (Scales 'N' Tails) Sell hatchling CB09's for £45, I was told i may be able to get it cheaper from a private breeder is this true ?.
Also does a hatchling royal get its heat source from the heatmatt for 8 to 12months before moving up to the heat lamp ? As it dont state it on the caresheet.
Kind Regards Ash. |

£45 is a good price. Hopefully I will have a few hatchlings, but I'm not sure of a price yet.
Welcome to TRP. |

welcome to the forum. Younger royals are fine with a heat mat although i prefer a light bulb and dimmer thermostat. Apparently a heat mat isnt much suitable for an older royal because they are heavy and large bodied. I heard that royals tend to appreciate a warmer air temperature than underfloor heating, but thats just what I heard. Welcome to the forum and good luck searching for your royal, no matter what morph they are all stunning and beautiful |

Thanks , the reason why i ask is as when i get my royal i will house it in a RUB until its big enough to go in to a viv and therfore will only be able to give it a heatmatt , how long can they be on a heatmatt when there hatchlings ? |

It up to you really, for i am not sure on the answer to be honest. I put my royal on the light and dimmer thermostat as soon as i got it (after trying to make my heatmat do what i want it to) and my royal was only 8 weeks old when I got her. You could do it as soon as you want, as soon as you got the stuff to do it, or you can wait until your royal is a little bit older, i am sure one of the more experienced reptile keepers here on this forum will be able to give you some better information |

In the hampshire area ive seen male normal royals sell for £20 and females for £45. With the heatmat. There normally used when there young because there usually in RUBs. If in a viv then using a lamp is prob better as it heats the air too |

I think its good to get hatchlings as you can watch them grow and develop and they become familiar to you too with no past history :) a heat mat is fine all my hatchlings are on heat mats so long as you keep the ambient temperature warm they will be fine, enjoy your new royal :) |

unfortunately not, try putting a thread in the classified section asking for urgent requirement of a heatmat suitable thermostat, someone is sure to have a spare you could get your hands on |
