Its breeding season so its normal for them to fast for a few weeks. Aslong as hes not loosing weight I wouldn't worry. |

it's definitely the season for them to be off food - and afterall it IS a royal lol
how is the viv heated? mats are great for youngsters but do nothing for the ambient temperature as they heat what's in contact with them. also the shorter daylight hours in another signal for all their body processes to slow down for brumation |

I would recommend moving over to a bulb/ceramic, heat mats aren't really suitable for adult Royals. |

he'd certainly appreciate ceramic or IR heat at that size/age. that WILL increase the ambient temperature, raising the temp in the cool end of the viv, as it heats the air which will circulate (rather than a heatmat that will just heat what is in contact with it)
he's also reached sexual maturity.........do you know that he's a he? and do you know the sex of your other royal? if it's a female i'd say he's definitely got girls on his mind lol
and finally, monitoring his weight on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis will give you a better idea of his condition than trying to gauge it visually |
