we all know that usually snakes bellies go pinky when they are soon to shed. when i give mine a bath his goes pink then, is this anything to do with the same reason that how we go red when we are warm to let off a bit of heat, or am i just missing the point completely

Yes, you probably have the water too warm. What temperature do you have it at and why are you bathing it?

the pink belly is usually down to the body's chemicals involved in ecdysis (shedding)

just getting wet shouldn't really have the same effect.......

my royal has a pink belly at the moment, i am not sure what it is because of. She has only just shed, the only thing i can think of is that maybe the hide which is in the hot end under the light is getting a little bit too warm for her, i might have to move the hot end hide into the middle of the viv for her.

I have never really given my royal a bath so i cant say if her belly goes pink like yours does....i dont think it means any serious health concern though

Is there a reason you're bathing him?

yes alot of people bath theirs to help them go to toilet quicker i dont belive in that i think the snake should go in his/hers own time.

ye that was not long after christmas and he hadn't eaten for a month and half and just got back to feeding him and he must have had the remains of at least 5 rats inside of him so i give him a bath to get rid of some of it and it worked very well. i wouldnt do it all of the time i had to with one of my snakes as he wouldnt poop in his viv for some strange reason lol.
