I'm looking to purchase a female Royal soon, hopefully when I get paid the end of this month it will be all sorted. I've been reading the information on this website, and on this forum and I'd just like to thank you all as it's been a big help to me.
As a child my father had two Corn snakes, so I have had previous encounters with snakes and it seems I haven't forgot how to handle them when I went to the breeders the weekend just gone, originally I was looking for a milk snake, but fell in love (so to speak) with a Female Royal Python that's around a year or two old I think. And that's how I arrived here .

Thanks for the welcome guys, sadly I couldn't visit the snake today :(
I'm going by on Saturday with my Family, to see how well my brother and Mother get on with it, as I feel it would be a bit unfair on both them and the Snake itself if they don't get on very well. I don't expect them to handle her but it's about how they feel with it in the house.
How likely are they to escape from a sliding glass vivarium with a lock on? I may have to put a lock on my bedroom door as a last resort incase she does escape.
Also, how noisy are they at night as my Mother's concerned about the snake keeping everyone awake at night.
I really would like to own a Royal Python so I'm hoping everything turns out okay. |

pythons are not as much as escape artists as say corns are. a viv lock is always a good idea.
apart from the loud roaring lol they are very quiet animals. occasionally you will here the all to common sound of a royal thud(lost balance on a branch or simallar) but thats to loud enough to wake someone up.

Going to see her tomorrow with my family to see what my uncertain Mother and Brother think, I'm hoping they take a shine to her as much as I have (at least to let me have her in the house)
Just hoping she has the same sweet temperament as she did last week as I really would like to have my own Royal :(
There is a slightly larger male too, I think he is slightly older than the female, I thought it would be wiser to get one that's already an established eater as I know they can be quite fussy.
Wish me luck guys.
Also: I am worried incase I do get one and cannot get it to feed, it seems to be a really big problem among them, and I'm dead worried incase I can't get it to feed. |

Went back today, the female seemed to have lost weight and she was going through a shed, she seemed to be the more timid of the two so I thought it would be wiser to handle the male again instead, the male seemed larger than last time and seems to have quite a laid back personality so I have chosen him as I felt the female would be 'jumping in the deep end' as it were due to the face I'm a beginner and she seems to have eating problems., placed my deposit and will be paying it all off soon, hopefully I can bring home the vivarium tomorrow to get it all set up nice for him when he finally arrives next week. :)
I am full of excitement today as a result and looking for a nice hidey hole I can buy him. |
