Right so let me start from the top. Odin's due his first shed with me since he's gained an appetite and started feeding. Tonight I took him out to give him a gentle bath in some warm water to help his shed as he seems to be struggling, and after handling him I noticed a bump on his mouth which seemed to be an engorged scale or something? Here are some pictures below;

Now along with that he keeps adjusting his mouth like this;

I'm not sure if the mouth adjusting is in relation to the bobble (yeah bobble's a scientific term =P).
On a second note, he's displaying some RI symptoms. Like the faint clicking/creaking sound, he lifts his head usually anyway and does that Python like head tilt and stare thing so I'm not sure. He's also shedding so I'm not sure if he's creaking because of that.
I've made his viv damp to help him shed, and will check on him again in a couple of days to see if he's shed and if he's still creaking.
Any ideas or advice would be lovely =] |

sorry can't help much. there does look to be some retained shed around the eyes and mouth but don't think it could cause that effect. unless water has been trapped behisde the retained shed. in the photo the whole nose area looks swollen and puffy. is that the case or is it just the pic. he may be trying to re aline jaw with the ajusting of the mouth.
some one will be along soon with a bit more advice. |

He's not shed much to be fair, he's shed a little more since I bathed him as his skin isn't so dry now. But so far his eyecaps seem to be partially shed (if not completely now as he's shed more). His nose does seem slightly puffy but I'm not sure if it is just his shed distorting his skin, in other words it isn't puffy enough to be sure it's puffy, if that makes any sense lol.
I would agree with him realigning his jaw if he wasn't doing it every few minutes, so I'm not sure if it's a way for him to ease some kind of discomfort in that area?
Thank you for your help Spor =] |

I think what might be best is if I stop misting his fauna and just bathe him to get rid of his shed? His breathing issues are very recent, in fact it only cropped up yesterday which is when I started regularly misting. |

Any mucous, liquid or bubbles from the mouth area?
Instead of bathing you could try a damp pillow case instead. |

No liquid at all coming from his mouth so far, he's shed some more during the night as the warm water helped but I haven't taken him out to see how much has come off as I'm leaving him be. I'm thinking the wheezing may have been brought on from the dampness of his fauna? As it isn't usually that damp, it was just to help him shed. |

It may be, I'm not a big fan of misting to be honest. |

Well I've just checked on him and he's basically shed everything except from the top of his head and eyecaps. Shall I stop misting altogether and hope his wheezing stops?
Also I'm still a little worried about that bump by his mouth, is that normal? As he didn't have it before now. |

The wheezing may also be to do with partially shed skin in the nostrils. |

What are your temperatures at? And how are you measuring them? Dial or digital?
cheers

You know what, I think it is actually just down to the shed skin that's still left. I just checked him and it's obvious his nostrils are still covered, I've tried handling him with slightly damp hands but other than that I might mist every once in a while.
Does anyone have ideas for the lump at his mouth? That has me worrying the most. |

Anything I could do about it? Or is it nothing to worry about? |

It looks like it's receeding, so I'm not so worried. I'm just hoping he figures out how to shed the last bit on his head now, I tried helping him out again but with how the rest has come off it looks like he'd need to move backwards to get it loose. I'm going to see if we have a spare pillow case tomorrow and try to see if that'll work. |
