Im sure theres loads of posts releating to this subject but my royal hasnt eaten for about 2 1/2 months now. I ve been trying once a week for that time. Most of the time, he seems interested, his head pops up and his tounge starts flicking but as soon as i think hes about to strike he retreats and hides again. The temp seems fine and humidity is level. He has been active, as he has a habit of knocking his light off its holder. I am quite worried to be honest. I dont know if its the food. He has just had a complete shed last week but still didnt eat. Please advise.

How much does he weigh?

Has he lost much weight?

If not then its just natural?

I have one left that still hasn't eaten in 2010 but is fine.

No probs, I know its not easy to not worry, but it is quite natural for snakes, its what they do in the wild.

answers to above question will help. but as BE said quite natural for them. i have had to start feeding after a 6month+ fast. it may also be that the food item is a slighty of size for him? is that possible ? what are you offering? i would also suggest if you haven't already to reduce the amount of handling you do, until he is back in form.

I have a lemon pastel that didn't eat for 8 weeks post moving her into a new and larger viv, she lost 3g in weight and is now feeding again like there is no tomorrow, be patient, check the weight periodically and your snake will feed again in good time

hello again. From BE's advise i started keeping regular weigth checks. HE weighted 625g on July 8. I tried him again yesterday after not eating again and his weigth is now 829g. To me this doesnt seem right but thats what the scales said. Is this normal? maybe he taken on lots of water?
