UGH seriously disheartened. :(
i weighed Ra last night, and instead of the surprise i was hoping for, according to the scales he has actually LOST 25g!!!
i am hoping it's just my rubbish dial scales though, so i am on ebay right now looking for some digital scales.
still really annoyed. he looks bigger, feels heavier but is apparently not. maybe it's all in my imagination grrrrrrrr
would someting like this be better than kitchen scales?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/40KG-HANGING-DIGITAL-SCALE-G-FISHING-LUGGAGE-KITCHEN-B_W0QQitemZ260360123053QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_SportingGoods_FishingAcces_RL?hash=item260360123053&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1761%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
means i can pop him in a pillowcase and weigh him, then weigh the pillowcase without him in and work it out that way?

I'm not sure how accurate they will be at the sort of range you'll be looking at.

His weight loss could be due to defecating?

okay just fed him a rat pup, barely touched the sides and i cant even see the tiniest lump in him. how exactly has he not put weight on????? the first rat pup i fed him left a lump.
definately need to upgrade the food i think.
since i weighed him the first time he has been fed 4 rat pups, shed once and pooped once.

Rat Pups don't weigh very much, it wouldn't surprise me that he's not gained, having pooed. Have you tried offering more than one pup? - When do the fluffs arrive?

Cat as BE said try upping his food, offer him two rat pups, dont worry if he eats one and then does not take the other right away. How big are the rat pups?

I got two small weaners out for Peanuts feed after he shed, he took the first one with no trouble, but not the second right away, so i left it for him went and had a cuppa came back and it was gone.

Am going to get bigger ones tomorrow.

i was just about to ask if i could offer two LOL i've been awake most of the night thinking about him!
the last two i have fed him were approx 2.5 cm but thats from memory so could be totally innacurate, the ones left tbh arent much bigger than a mouse pinkie so i wasn't going to bother with those. that's the best i could buy in bridgwater :( the shop here is rubbish i think, the sizes go from rat pups to adult rats! :s) what about an adult mouse? or chick? (if chicks come small enough) would that be okay? i'm going to get a friend to drive me to taunton today so might find something more suitable.
someone over on the dark side said a helpful tip for figuring out the right size food is this:
"But I'd really go by weight - get him a food item that's 10-15% of his total body weight and feed that once a week - if he weighs 200 grams, feed a 30-gram rodent, and so on." is that an accurate way to work out what he SHOULD be eating now?
oh i didnt end up ordering anything online, i was a bit put off by the fact that i cant actually see the size i'm ordering, but if i dont find any in taunton (which is unlikely i would judge, there's watermarque plus julia told me of another shop that sells reptiles, who "should" (in theory) sell them, i can also think of at least two more pet shops that sell frozen food. much better than bridgy, we only have jollyes. i also got in contact with a chap up the road who breeds and sells reptiles, so if all else fails i can always ask him where he gets his from etc

I think if they have not been feeding properly for a while and then they start eating proper meals then they have a growth spurt, hence the freqent shedding.I dont think my kings previous owners did'ntfed him at all as they did'nt have him long and were scared to death of him.

Cat you will notice once you move his food up that he will start to get chunkier..

well thats whats happening to Peanut, he is filling out and starting to look less of a baby now and more grown up.
