This post is about my adult corn I know longer think I should keep her. Since I got my royal just before Christmas I haven't handled her much at all and she's getting quite nippy now. I also want another royal as since getting Floyd iv just fell in love with them lol, and the only way I could have another is to sell my snow. I think she would have a much happier life under someone else's care, (not that she's neglected in any way) I'm just torn as to whether I should sell her as she was my first snake, just don't know what to do :(. It's not a case of me not wanting to persevere, just that I want another royal. And like I said, she would be happier elsewhere I think.

Corns, especially adult females, can go through phases of being moody and mardy, especially at this time of year (got a few girls myself and they can be right little madams lol.) It's just getting to mating season and they can either fast, or get very restless, or just hide away and not seem very interested in human contact. I don't think you need worry about having not handled her much - plenty of people don't over-handle; I don't myself as I leave it to the snake to ask, and I don't find it makes any difference to temperament overall. but I do notice a difference during the mating season.

If you want to keep her but want another snake, is there some way you can stack their vivs, if you use vivs, or re-arrange the furniture to accommodate another enclosure? I can see you're really in two minds, although, if you did find her another good home, she would be fine. She wouldn't miss you as a cat or dog would, say. But it's obvious you're still attached to her.

Which area do you live in? If you do decide to part with her, there might be someone on here who would take her.

All the very very best, hope you can come to a decision you feel okay about.

As BATS has stated corns can be stroppy buggers lol they don't seem to be very calm like royals are so get agitated quite easy. I have two and my baby one hates it if you touch her tail she flinches then goes for u and my adult one hates u touching her head. Sounds like u love her loads tho so what ever decision you come to at least it will be for the best and you won't rush into it and regret it after mate.

Well she's perfect in every other way apart from handling, never missed a feed in four years, sheds great, poos as you know corns do lol. Just the handling, I just seem more interested in Floyd now and want to get an adult, she still gets fed weekly, water daily, thoroughly cleaned out every month or so. So anyone prepared to put in the time and bring her back out of her shell would have a perfect snake. I live just outside of Leicester. I think I'll force myself to put an ad in the reps for sale/rehoming forum on here. Don't really want to put it in the paper as I'm 100% sure that she'll be going to a good home if it's somebody on here. And maybe pre loved. Thank you bats I feel pretty sure on what I should do now. Even if I will miss her for a while

Ah, sorry, J, didn't mean to give the wrong impression - I meant it's just at this time of year when their minds are on mating ...shameless lol. And they can be zippy and nippy as babies but they become a lot more sedate when they mature. Except during the mating season. But they're still a doddle to handle even then - my only reservation with corns is what appears, unexpectedly, out of their cloacas ...

Their temperaments aren't totally alike, of course - for instance, Saffy is totally soppy, Buffy's rather a madam but not nippy; Missy is greedy and you have to make it clear that you've put your hand in for walkies time, not food, Spooky and Spider are like puppies, all over you.

I do like corns - if I lived near Leicester and didn't have the mite problem atm, I'd be seriously considering your girl myself, Ajokocha. All the best with her.

What a coincidence lol. Yea I am considering. I'm not in any immediate rush buddy. Thanks. If you want to ask any questions feel free to email me at ash_knight_06@hotmail.com. Did you manage to find your escapee mate? Been meaning to ask you.

House is nice and warm leave water out every night so she can get it if she wants not got any dogs or cats so no problem about getting attacked or anything. Still don't know how she got out feel well stupid for losing her wish she would come back. These last two weeks felt like months

Shell come out mate. Can't imagine shed go outside in this weather when she's already in a nice warm house. Don't feel stupid, as you well know they're very accomplished escape artists! Someone's on another forum had escaped this time of year a couple of years back. Survived the whole of winter, outside presumably, as his neighbour found it in his garden!

Thanks Ajokcocha - it's only been 10 days and on one snake, Sulah, the IJ carpet, who was in quarantine anyway - the Callngtons' spray has worked wonders with her so far and I'm hoping the mites don't spread - but I can't be sure they've gone until everyone's been clear for a month. As someone else put it, mites suck! lol.

Hey that would be great if J can take her, hope it works out!

Good luck with the escapee too J - I can just imagine her sloping out of her hideyhole to investigate a new snake. Don't feel stupid though - it's something that can happen to anyone - they're houdinis! Really really hope you find her soon.
