Hello, my name is Karen I am the proud owner of a Royal Python called Gladysssssssssss. She is about 5 months old and growing larger by the day. This is the first time I have owned a snake, so this is a new area for me, so please be patient if I seem a little dull with my questioning. She is feeding on mice at the moment and I have been advised to start her on rats, which apparently she did not like whilst being in the pet shop. She is also sleeping alot due to the start of another shed in the next few days.

Hello, the person that advised you to move her onto rats is right, the quicker you do it the easier it is. |

Hi Welcome to the forum,
My Royal was no mouse fluffs when i got him, what i did, was defrosted a rat pup and a mouse fluff right next to each other so the rat pup got some of the smell of the mouse, and bingo he took it, well both of them..lol...but we have not looked back since he is doing very nicely on rats now...
Anyway, good luck with your Royal |

Thanks for advice - wasn't expecting any in my intro - have bought rat pup ready for tuesday - but Gladysss is showing signes of preparation of shedding - think I will leave off with rat until shed is done. I am worried though, as she has been asleep for two days in the same place and not moved at all as far as we know. She is breathing, but i am worried that she is not regulating her temperature. Is this normal behaviour before a shed???? |

Hi All, thanks Lee for answer, the temp is around 30c and cold 26c. Humidity has dropped a little today, but ok too. She is sort of on the edge of the viv, against the glass, but just off the heat mat which is about 2 inches away. |
