You say he's due a shed, it may be to do with that. It may be dehydration too as just because he has a large water bowl does not mean he's using it enough. |

i used a bit of sticky tape this morning to see if it was a retained eyecap and it pulled the dent out. |

I would seriously recommend anyone reading this not to attempt the above, this could cause severe damage to a snake. |

it is fine the sticky tape was not sticky i wiped 90% of the stickyness off it was slightly tacky, this is how we remove retained eye caps in the shop it is the quickest and easyest way to take em off with out harming the snake. |

i cant believe how many scare merchants there are on here! omg as long as its not industrial tape and uber sticky, painters tape is less sticky than anyother tape and leaves no residue on the eye, i have done this on many other reptiles and so has a few of my close friends which have been keeping reptiles and snake for over 20 yrs. there is no risk if the eye coming out the tape is just not sticky enough!! |

I dont think using tape is a bad method for removing eye caps, but I defintaly wouldnt recomend it to anyone (like most things it would be better if you were shown in person before trying).
I also think that using tape to pull out a dent has the potential to cause alot more damage than if it was used to remove an eye cap. |

It may well be the quickest way, but there is no way I'd put tape anywhere near one of my snakes. |

Second that, I wouldn't dream of putting tape of any sort on one of my snakes eyes. |

how the h*ll do you do that then?
and no it's NOT fine, this is a public forum where any noob could follow your 'advice' and try it and potentially take their snake's eye out.
if you want to do contoversial stuff either keep it to yourself or expect a backlash regarding your irresponsibility posting that 'it's fine' to do it on a public forum. |

^^^^ info for noobs.
and the answer to your question GP is easy:- get the sticky tape (use painters tape hardly sticky at all) and rub the sticky side against an edge preferably a table or kitchen counter, keep doing this until you have removed as much stickness as you need |

90% is just a rough guess i didn't do a mathematical equation to result in it being exactly 90%, it is just a figure to show people how much stickiness needs removing. anyway we should be on this forum to share different methods of royal python care i thought i was doing the right thing by telling people my methods of things and i was gunned down for it. |
