I'm getting tempted! I tried her with a brained rat last night, again lots of interest but she didn't eat it. I'm glad I'm not the only one with one at six months. Naffing royals, nothing but worry!
If your setup and temps are correct and you're not over-handling it's probably not your fault. At the moment Princess does one of two things when offered a rat: ignores it and hides, or gives it a good sniff, sizes it up, sniffs it some more, then decides she doesn't want it and ignores it. Guess which is most frustrating?
Feather, bless her, nails everything she's offered.
Well Eden hasn't fed properly since middle of December, he had always eaten well, no problems, but he stopped on the 15th December. He did have two weeks in February when he ate a small rat two weeks running but has not eaten since. I have offered him a medium rat last week but he was interested in it, tasting & looking as if he was going to strike but didn't. I'm going to try him again tonight, but with adult mice, see if he fancies them for a change. Marg.
My mates royal wasnt eating for a few weeks. It would hunt as soon as it caught the smell of the rat, follow it to its source, size the rat up as if she was about to strike then shy away.
The cure was to put her on smaller rats. Not much smaller either, just from large weaners to medium weaners. She decided that large ones were too big for her!

Well thanks very much to Boze, i tried Eden on an adult mouse tonight, he took it, yeah!!! I'm so pleased, but it is only a small snack to him but at least he ate it. Marg.
Dorians roaming around like a trooper, and he has been for about an hour or two now. Mouse is nearly defrosted, here's hoping he'll go for it this time. Will edit this post later with the result.
